For New Years we decided to do a little fondue party - complete with original fondue pots from the 60's (thank you Mom & Dad and Vickie & Harve!). The little crock pot worked, too. This is such a fun, easy and filling way to have a party or just a meal for 2! Dave's family makes Skyline dip at every family function so we played around and made it in crock pot form and it worked really well! We had 3 different pots going so all 3 recipes are below.
SKYLINE CROCK POT DIP
We made a half batch and that worked just fine, too!
1 can original Skyline Chili
1 package of cream cheese
1 small bag of shredded cheddar cheese
1 bag of Scoops Fritos
This one is really simple - melt the cream cheese in the crock pot with the chili. Add the cheddar cheese and stir until it is all melted. Eat with the Scoops!
BEEF BROTH FONDUE
2 cups beef broth (you may need more depending on the size of your fondue pot)
2 gloves minced garlic
2 TBS onion powder
Other seasonings to taste
Simply put it all in the pot and let it get really hot! This is to cook meats or vegetables in. We had shrimp and beef filets. Feel free to marinade the meats as well!
CHEESE FONDUE
6 oz shredded swiss cheese
6 oz shredded Gruyere cheese (Kraft makes a bag that is both of these cheese combined - made it super simple!)
1 mini bottle of white wine (We used Barefoot Pinot Grigio)
1 TBS lemon juice
1 clove minced garlic
2 TBS cherry vodka
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp ground nutmeg
Turn on your fondue pot to medium heat (ours was old so low was medium on that one). Add the wine, lemon juice and garlic and heat until close to boiling. Add one bag of the shredded cheese and stir until fully melted. Add the second bag of cheese and repeat. Once all cheese is melted add the nutmeg and pepper and stir thoroughly. Add the cherry vodka (or other cherry liquor) and stir. This works well with meat, veggies, breads, or anything you like cheese on!
